Dental Technicians Association of Saskatchewan Board Meeting
Smiley’s Saskatoon February 28th 2026
Call to order 10:57

1. In attendance: Bill, Doug, Charlane, Trudie, Brent,Kris, Knut, Ramon and Julia

2. Adopt Agenda: Kris 1st, Brent 2nd, carried with additions.

3. Review and approve minutes: Kris 1st, Knud 2nd, carried

4. Ramon Inac is resigning from the board effective today, he will keep the post office key until we can find someone to pick up the mail in Saskatoon. Knud to take over the education position until it can be filled.

5.  Old Business

A.   Did we join back up with Cadtr? We are continuing to get updates from Judy. They are in the beginning steps of starting up with a new program. She will continue to keep us in the loop. Judy is the executive director for CADTR based in Ontario.

B.   Signing authority-Bill Cuthbert try to again get signing authority at CIBC bank he was unsuccessful. We need to find a different bank that works with nonprofit organizations. A motion was set to move financial institutions to try and switch to a different bank. Bill and Knut to go to the Credit Union in Regina. Knud 1st, Charlane 2nd, carried.

C.   Social services-Bill submitted a proposal and it was sent back for more detail. Bill sent back a suggested price list asking for a 17 percent raise. Waiting to hear back from social services. Bill and Doug to have another meeting with Pamela.

D.   Website design. Looks fantastic and is user friendly.

6.  New Business 

A.   Whats app for better communication. Denied. Continue with our group text.

B.   Trudies Meeting with the Oral Health Professionals. 90 percent didn’t pertain to technicians. Clinic based issues that technicians don’t deal with. June 8th is the annual meeting in Regina.

C.   A member brought up the issue with Saskatchewan technicians not being allowed to take intraoral scans and impressions, even though they are trained. As per our bylaws we are not allowed in the mouth other than to take shades.

D.    Education Day. When we become a College we will not be allowed to to organize our education days. Brent has volunteered to do the education days until we can’t anymore.

E.    Ce Points. We need some sore of evidence that a class or a course was taken. For conferences we are allowing 2 points per day.

F.   Update on Bill 18. For now they are focusing on Surgeons, Licensed Practical Nurses, registered Nurses, and Psychiatric Nurse. This could take up to 3 years, then we will be next.

G. Email address. We are changing our email because of the amount of spam the Hotmail one receives. Will try a Gmail address.
