Becoming a registered dental technician in Saskatchewan is an essential step in ensuring the highest standards of professionalism, quality, and public safety within the dental industry.

FEES
Our current fees for registered dental technicians in Saskatchewan are:
RDT - $450/annually
In-Active status - $100/annually
Student - $50/annually
All annual fees are due December 31st of the year prior to new registration year.
Late registration fees are subject to 50% addition to existing outstanding fee.
Late registration is all fees excepted post January 7th of that registration year.
CONTINUING EDUCATION
A continuing education points system is crucial for any association of dental technicians, as it ensures members remain current with the rapidly evolving technologies, materials, and techniques that define modern dental practice. Dentistry is advancing faster than ever, with innovations in digital design, 3D printing, and biomaterials transforming how dental restorations are created and delivered. By maintaining a structured continuing education program, technicians are encouraged to continually refine their skills, adapt to industry changes, and uphold the highest standards of craftsmanship and patient care. This system not only supports individual professional growth but also strengthens the reputation and credibility of the entire dental technology community in Saskatchewan.
A requirement of 24 credits per 3 years
If credits are not achieved, submitted and approved by the deadline of the 3 years they are subject to an additional $150 fee upon payment of registration.

Start date: January 2, 2024
End date: December 31, 2026

BECOMING REGISTERED
You do not need to be a Registered Dental Technician to work as a technician in Saskatchewan. Many of the laboratories provide opportunities to be trained in-house and taught the skills needed to challenge the registration exam and become part of the membership.
There are three paths to becoming registered dental technicians in Saskatchewan currently but with the evolution of our industry these are subject to change. The registration exam consists of a written and practical that must be completed under the supervision of a registered dental technician and is later graded by a practicing dentist in Saskatchewan.
- Successfully complete Dental Technician Registry Exam from another Canadian Province recognized by the D.T.A.S. (Dental Association of Saskatchewan) and are in good standing with previous registered province. Upon which they can pay the provincial fees in Saskatchewan and be granted registered status.
- Initial application for registration must provide evidence of work under the supervision of a Registered Dental Technician in good standing for no less then 18 months within a 3-year period. At which time you may challenge the Saskatchewan Registration Exam.
- Out of country registered dental technician applicants wanting to obtain registration in Saskatchewan may provide evidence of completion of Dental Technician Programs deemed equivalent to those of an approved Canadian Technician Program. The applicant is proficient in the English language and is in good standing in the previous foreign jurisdiction. Submissions of qualifications can be submitted to IQAS (International Qualifications Assessment Service) for specialized assessment and then forwarded to our association for final assessment.
